New Delhi: All India Council for Technical Institution (AICTE) has introduced a Training and Learning (ATAL) course, a faculty development programme for the year 2022-2023. The aim of the programme is an effective implementation of NEP 2022.

Prof Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of AICTE has launched the ATAL’s FDP Calendar 2022-2023. It has been redesigned and has included a collaborative and learner-centric approach to faculty development programmes. 

In a press release the Chairman, said, "The higher education system is passing through a transformational phase to cope up with the global trends. National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 is a light house for this journey of transformation. Quality teachers’ community is always a potential force to enforce the changes and plays a pivotal role in development of knowledge building, knowledge sharing and its dissemination. The objective of the programme is value addition through methods such as application of knowledge in emerging thrust areas, critical thinking, problem solving, team building, and project management."

ATAL will focus on delivering quality FDP (Faculty Development Programmes) to have sound knowledge of the disciplines and gain associated skills in particular subjects. The skills that the programme will highlight are- 

  • Pedagogy-requisite teaching skills which are needed to scientifically plan for instructional delivery, communicate the knowledge and skills to the students in an efficient manner and assess teaching-learning effectiveness. 
  • Skills for need analysis, meaningful literature review, problem framework and creative problem-solving.
  • Life skills so that they are motivated and fascinated to acquire knowledge and associated skills. 
  • Institutional Leadership skills for senior faculty to be ready for academic leadership. Understanding their roles in community wellbeing, national building and also their own career development.
