Why study at ?

The Bachelor's programme in Psychology has a number of?advantages:

  • More focus on acquiring research skills than in other psychology?programmes in the Netherlands.?This will allow you to become the independent?professional that prospective employers are looking for.
  • You will be educated by lecturers from top institutes who are?working on cutting-edge research.
  • You will study in a true international classroom. The first year of the English-taught Psychology programme consists for 82% out of international students.?We counted eleven different nationalities from within the EU and ten from outside the EU (e.g. Armenia, Canada, Singapore, Thailand and the US).
  • A personal approach to education: as a first-year student, you will have a mentor who will help you settle into student life in Nijmegen. All workgroups and practicals give place to?20 students at maximum.
  • An individual study track: from the second year onwards you can create your own study track catering to your personal interests and professional ambitions.
  • A six-month internship or study period abroad is a fixed component of the programme.
  • A three-year Bachelor's programme that guarantees direct admission to a Master's programme upon completion.
  • Current students consider our Bachelor's programme to be significantly better than comparable programmes in the Netherlands.

Career prospects Bachelor's programme in Psychology

Psychologists work towards to de-mystifying the complex nature of human behavior. As a result, they are able to contribute their professional expertise to many areas of society.

Healthcare

More than half of our graduates work in the health care sector, for example in mental healthcare institutions, hospitals, or nursing homes. Some graduates run their own private practices. They may specialise in working with children, young people, adults or senior citizens.

Please note that the Master?s programme in Psychology does not provide full professional training to enable you to become an accredited therapist. For this, you will need to take one or more post-academic training programmes after your Master?s programme is complete, as well as gain experience in a psychological practice or healthcare institution. The number of places available in these programmes is limited.

Broader than you might think

Psychologists work in a?diverse?range of professional fields and contexts, such as:

  • Education
  • Study and career advice services
  • Reintegration?counselling
  • Recruitment and selection of?employees
  • Human resource?management, mediation or as a career advisor or health-safety-environment advisor
  • Project management or as a policy?researcher or behavioural change advisor
  • Sports federations and clubs
  • Judiciary and rehabilitation
  • Public information and public prevention
  • Advertising and marketing
  • Universities, research agencies and institutes
