Master of Arts [M.A] [Philosophical Anthropology and Philosophy of Culture] From Leiden University

The master in Philosophical Anthropology and Philosophy of Culture at Leiden University is a specialisation of the Philosophy (60EC) programme and combines state of the art discussions in the field with training in advanced academic training.

Taught by Leiden University's internationally-acclaimed faculty, the programme investigates the basis of our understanding of human beings and the ways in which we study them. Questions raised in philosophical anthropology and its adjacent disciplines of philosophy of mind, culture and technology include: What are human beings? What sets humans apart from other beings? Can humans be properly studied through the natural sciences? Are disciplines such as the humanities, psychology and cultural studies conceptually contiguous with the natural sciences?

This challenging programme attracts talented and highly-motivated students. In-class discussions with fellow students will help you develop analytical and communicative skills. Classes are kept deliberately small to allow for a high level of contact between students and lecturers, many of whom are leading researchers in their fields.
