The Business Administration Specialization in Strategic Innovation Management considers the whole strategic process of managing innovations within companies and between companies. Our programme is structured around the following four topics: (1) where does innovation come from; (2) how can the firm organise internally for innovation; (3) how and with whom should the firm cooperate to maximise innovation; and (4) how can the firm capture value from innovation?
All of our courses are designed and executed by a small group of top academic researchers, and our programme is, therefore, strongly research oriented. By introducing students to the state-of-the-art in academic research, the aim of the programme is to give student the necessary tools to properly understand, evaluate and solve real-life cases, and to conduct their own research.
Job prospects
With the ever increasing demand for innovation, your perspectives as an MSc SIM graduate are bright.
A large number of our graduates have gone on to careers in innovation. We have graduates who work as business developers and innovation managers, working with innovation within the firm; as strategic consultants, advising the firm on their innovation processes; as bankers, evaluating firms and their innovations; and as policy advisors, working on stimulating innovation at the regional, national, and international levels.
A large number of our students have, however, also opted for more general positions. Many of our graduates, for example, now work as general managers, strategists, or consultants, across a range of well-known firms and multinationals, and a number of our graduates have started their own companies.
