- In this specialization, students will explore historical, theoretical, and analytical perspectives on these phenomena while also examining exhibition and archival practices.
- This academically diverse program offers students a unique opportunity to study cultural processes that take place across various media, formats, and art forms. Our Comparative Arts and Media Studies program combines a strong conceptual and theoretical grounding with the analysis of concrete curatorial and artistic practices. Our teaching draws on multiple perspectives to help students to situate themselves in the field and further develop their ability to think critically. The comparative approach to practices of spectatorship, processes of mediation, and exhibition is unique in the Netherlands.
- During student's studies in the Comparative Arts and Media Studies program, they will develop a sharp eye (and ear) for a wide range of media and art objects and processes. Students will also learn to analyze and place them in their various contexts. Students will attain academic skills such as critical thinking, presentation, and writing skills. Learning to conduct research on a variety of topics, both in academia and in the world at large, is another essential component of the program. In addition to developing a solid understanding of the cultural landscape, students will learn to think, speak and write about relevant topics at a highly advanced level.
