- During the Archaeology program, students analyze the origins of archaeological finds by studying the scholarly literature and conducting field research. students learn to pinpoint the age of an object using advanced scientific techniques, and students deepen their understanding of the lifestyle and environment of different groups of people. Archaeology opens up new worlds for students.
- The Bachelor’s pays attention to the study of earthenware, glass, metal, and other materials, the relationship between people and the landscape, and the presentation of research results in various media. The program is unique in the Netherlands for its focus on the whole of Europe: both the Mediterranean area and Central and Western Europe, including naturally, the Netherlands and Amsterdam.
- Students acquire a strong foundation of knowledge about archaeology in Europe, then zoom in on the historical periods and geographical areas that interest them the most. students take courses and work together with students from the other ACASA programs: Ancient Studies and Greek & Latin Language & Culture. students also do fieldwork placements in the Netherlands, Italy, and Greece.
- The Archaeology program is offered in collaboration between the two Amsterdam universities, VU Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam (UvA). All lectures are delivered on the UvA campus in the city center, next to the Allard Pierson Museum.
- This program is offered online due to the ongoing pandemic.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- In order to meet the general admission requirements for a Bachelor's program at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, students will need a diploma that is equivalent to the Dutch pre-university VWO diploma in the education level. If students apply with a non-Dutch diploma VU Amsterdam will assess if their previous education is sufficient for admission.
- Every Bachelor’s degree program has specific entry requirements. This means that if a student’s knowledge of specific subjects is below the required standard, they will need to sit examinations in those subjects.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- All India Senior School Certificate (CBSE) with A1, A2, or B1 grades in 5 academic subjects
- Indian School Certificate (CISCE) with at least a 75% GPA calculated over the results of 5 academic subjects
- Migration Cum Transfer Certificate of the Senior Secondary School Examination (NIOS) with a score of A, B, or C in 5 academic subjects
- If students are applying for one of their English-taught Bachelor's programs they will have to demonstrate English language proficiency.
- This course is also available in Dutch, those who wish to study the program in dutch may do so by fulfilling the dutch language requirements.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries also need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
