- The subject of English-language literature and culture is a share subject within the two-subject bachelor's program of the Faculty of Cultural Studies. At the center of literary studies are English-language literatures from the United Kingdom, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia, India, Africa and others from the Middle Ages to the present.
- Paderborn University consider these literatures in their various forms of media representation - from books and scripts to films, television, radio plays, comics - and in their socio-cultural and historical contexts. Cultural studies takes a look at the cultural practices of the above-mentioned cultural areas and asks about their politics and history, their gender and class relationships, and how they deal with heterogeneity.

- General university entrance qualification or relevant subject-related university entrance qualification
- DSH certificate (minimum DSH-2) issued by a German university or Studienkolleg according to KMK-regulations (minimum result DSH 2)
- TestDaF certificate passed with level 4 in all four exam sections
- Deutsches Sprachdiplom Stufe II issued by the "Deutsche Kultursministerkonferenz"
- Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom awarded by the Goethe-Institut
