The guiding principles here are functional, cultural-aesthetic and implementation-related criteria as well as the focus on the preservation and qualification of natural and cultural heritage, including biodiversity protection.
The range of objects under consideration ranges from gardens and parks as traditional workplaces for landscape architects, to further open spaces in rural or urban areas such as public spaces or green zones, to large-scale nature conservation areas such as biosphere reserves or nature parks.
The course in landscape architecture and landscape planning focuses on how to approach and implement the development and design of open space and landscape.

For this course, students need one of the following degrees or certificates:

General University Entrance Qualification
Professional qualification (studying without a high school diploma)
TestDaf: Level 4 in all sub-exams
Goethe certificate: level C2 in all module parts
Telc German: C1 university
German language diploma of the Conference of Ministers of Education: DSD II with continuous level C1 in all areas
German language test for university admission (DSH) at a registered university: The DSH is divided into three stages. The DSH-2 is required to start studying. There is an exception for the artistic courses (visual arts, visual communication, and product design). Only DSH-1 is required for this: Proof of language proficiency for admission to study at the art college.
