Master of Law [L.L.M] (Chinese Law and Comparative Law)

The double master’s program “Chinese Law & Comparative Law” covers four semesters, of which two are spent in Göttingen and two in Nanjing. It is intended to give students who already have a degree in Law or Sinology comprehensive insight into Chinese law.
This is a Double Degree Programme. That means that alongside the degree awarded by the University of Göttingen (M.A./LL.M), the degree awarded by the University of Nanjing also applies (LL.M. 法学/经济法).
The following courses are available:
- Chinese language and legal terminology
- Sources of Chinese law and legislation
- Civil and business law (contract and corporate law)
- Public law (administrative and constitutional law)
- Comparative law
- History of Chinese law and Chinese philosophy of law
- The politics, society, economy, and history of China.

In order to guarantee optimal learning success, the legal courses, which are offered only for Göttingen students by lecturers from Nanjing University, are held in German. For this, the University of Nanjing charges a one-time course fee of $3410.75 ($1705.37 per semester).
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Completed degree in Law, Sinology / Chinese Studies or another relevant subject. If no degree in Law has been achieved, at least 36 CP in law studies must be proven.
- basic knowledge of the Chinese language.
- the diploma in the form of a certified copy; if the originals are not in English or German, the diploma is a certified German or English translation. If the final certificate is not yet available, a certificate of the work performed, the credits and the average grade,
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicants whose mother tongue is not modern standard Chinese must have adequate knowledge of modern standard Chinese at the level A.2.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ??or have level 2 of the Hàny? Shu?píng K?oshì (HSK).
- Sufficient Knowledge of Chinese can be achieved through the following language certificates or minimum performance can be proven in the following tests:
- Hàny? Shu?píng K?oshì (HSK) - level 2,
- Huáy?wén nénglì cèyàn; Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) - Level 2,
- UNIcert Basis.
- Applicants who neither have a German university entrance qualification still have their bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree from a German university must have sufficient knowledge of the German language.
