The English-language Ph.D. course in Geoscience is based on three main research areas of the faculty.
- Coupling processes between the geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere
- Dynamics and transport processes of the lithosphere
- Coupled processes in georeservoirs
The doctoral candidates take part in third-party research projects and become familiar with independent scientific work. With active participation in the scientific offers of the faculty or the geoscientific institute, students can acquire knowledge and skills that go beyond the normal curriculum of the program.

The semester fees comprise administration fees, student body fees, and a Student union fee. The summer semester fee totals $476.54 for 2021. While the Winter semester fee totals $470.43 for 2021. So the yearly fee for attending this program is $946.97.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Anyone who is in a subject is also entitled to access relevant Master’s course is enrolled, in this already examination achievements has successfully completed at least 90 ECTS credits and a grade point average is demonstrated that is in the top ten percent of the average grade of a year in the respective course counts.
- Anyone who applies at the time of application is also entitled to access can provide evidence of at least 60 ECTS credit points; this access authorization expires, if not at least before the beginning of the semester in which the doctoral program begins 90 ECTS credit points can be proven.
- Degrees obtained in a country outside of the Bologna signatory states require the establishment of equivalence to the qualifications taking into account the suggestions of the Central Office for Foreign Affairs Education (ZAB) at the Secretariat of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education of the States in the Federal Republic of Germany (KMK) for recognition and evaluation foreign educational certificates.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Language requirements: Demonstration of sufficient English language skills by earning the minimum required grade on an internationally recognized test.
- As a rule, the last test must have been taken no more than three years prior to receipt of the request for access to the PhD course in the past.
International students hailing from non-English speaking countries can prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
