Bachelor of Science [B.S] (NanoEngineering)
Field of Study:
Nanotechnology is the production and use of structures that are smaller than 100 nm (0.000 000 1 m) in at least one dimension. The decisive factor here is that the dimensions of the system components alone give rise to new functionalities and properties for improving existing or developing new products. The field of nanoscience and nanotechnology has developed extremely dynamically and strongly across disciplines over the past 25 years. Nanotechnology has become a key technology of the 21st century.
Their extensive application potential can only be used economically if the "nano effects" discovered in basic research and the corresponding new properties of nanomaterials and nanostructures are implemented in industrial products. Advancing into the world of the most elementary building blocks is a challenge that will always reveal new, ever more fascinating possibilities for new products and markets. This transfer is an engineering task that students of the bachelor's degree "NanoEngineering" are trained to do.

Tuition Fees
There are no tuition fees at the University of Duisburg-Essen. All students are, however, subject to a student body and social contribution fee per semester.
The social and student body contribution for the summer and winter semesters 2021 amounts to a total of $774.86.
The amount is made up as follows:
- Mobility contribution (ticket): $506.82, of which $367.88 for the VRR semester ticket and $138.94 for the NRW ticket
- Social contribution for the Studierendenwerk: $229.96
- Student body fee: $38.08.
The social and student body contribution is not to be paid before enrollment! Students will be informed about the payment modalities upon registration.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) or
- a relevant subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or
- a qualification recognized as equivalent or
- Proof of a special course-related technical aptitude (choice of subjects, grades) and sufficient general education (e.g. for advanced technical college entrance qualification).
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following requirements:
- Educational residents (people who have obtained their higher education entrance qualification in Germany or at a German school abroad) do not require any special proof of German language skills.
- Citizens of a country outside the EU with a foreign university entrance qualification must pass the "German language test for university entrance" (DSH 2 level) or the TestDaF (TDN 4) before starting their studies.
- In the international nanotechnology environment, English is playing an increasingly important role as an international technical language. The aim of the course is therefore also to convey familiarity with the English technical language by using the English language in selected courses. Corresponding language skills are therefore expected from the second year of study.
International students hailing from non-English speaking countries can prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
