Tuition Fees
There are no tuition fees at the University of Duisburg-Essen. All students are, however, subject to a student body and social contribution fee per semester.
The social and student body contribution for the summer and winter semesters 2021 amounts to a total of $774.86.
The amount is made up as follows:
- Mobility contribution (ticket): $506.82, of which $367.88 for the VRR semester ticket and $138.94 for the NRW ticket
- Social contribution for the Studierendenwerk: $229.96
- Student body fee: $38.08.
The social and student body contribution is not to be paid before enrollment! Students will be informed about the payment modalities upon registration.
The model of a reformed study of chemistry comprises a concentrated basic study (B.Sc.) of 6 semesters with the essential learning content from a range of core subjects in chemistry, which is followed by a four-semester specialty study as a postgraduate course (M.Sc.). This consecutive course is compatible with the two-tier international structure of higher education (Bachelor of Science and Master of Science).
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- General university
- entrance qualification (Abitur) or subject-specific university entrance qualification
- You can study without a high school diploma if the applicant proves a special course-related technical aptitude and a general education that meets the requirements of the University of Duisburg-Essen.
- The entrance exam consists of a three-hour exam and an oral exam lasting 30 to 45 minutes. The material includes chemistry as well as the basics of mathematics and physics necessary for studying chemistry and is based on the content of the upper secondary level.
Indian Eligibility:
Indians students are eligible to apply if they meet the following requirements:
- Educational residents (people who have obtained their higher education entrance qualification in Germany or at a German school abroad) do not require any special proof of German language skills.
- Citizens of a country outside the EU with a foreign university entrance qualification must pass the "German language test for university entrance" (DSH 2 level) or the TestDaF (TDN 4) before starting their studies.
