On Campus

The students of the bachelor's degree in “Computer Engineering” are taught the knowledge and skills they need in their professional life as graduates of a degree at the interface between electrical engineering and computer science. They also acquire skills that enable them to pursue a master’s degree in these two subjects.

Through basic and method-oriented training and through the teaching of work techniques from computer science and engineering, students will be able to make valuable contributions in their field of application as graduates from the beginning and to adapt sustainably to future computer science technologies. The course offers a balanced combination of modules in engineering and computer science and general engineering and natural science basic subjects, which are then integrated into a practical project and used in the bachelor's thesis. The IT modules include digital technology basics, circuit design, computer architecture, basic and advanced programming, programming paradigms and modeling methods, software technology, operating systems, Computer networks, Internet technologies with security techniques, and database systems. The basic engineering and natural science subjects include physics, electrical engineering, mechanics, as well as mathematics relevant to engineering and computer science. Finally, there are also technical and non-technical electives.

The students learn how to use IT specialist knowledge in fields of natural and engineering sciences and learn to communicate with colleagues from various disciplines on a professional level. This prepares the graduates primarily for the following professional fields:

  • Construction and operation of computer systems and computer networks,
  • Software engineering for technology or engineering-oriented applications,
  • Development of application-specific systems using hardware components and application of software technologies.
