This degree program is unique because the Master's degree in Humanitarian Aid is a Joint European Master's Degree that provides excellent cross-university and interdisciplinary academic training for people who work or intend to work in the field of humanitarian aid. The course combines scientifically sound theoretical knowledge with the acquisition of practical specialist skills and is based on the internationally renowned Network on Humanitarian Action (NOHA), which is supported by twelve European universities.

Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) does not charge tuition fees. The students must only pay a semester contribution fee of about $401 per semester. This fee includes free use of public transport in North-Rhine Westphalia, and reduced prices for food and beverages in the cafeteria (Mensa) and canteens.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- A Bachelor or comparable degree in the following disciplines:
- Jurisprudence
- medicine
- International Relations / Political Science
- Sociology / Social Science
- Anthropology / ethnology
- psychology
- Management / economics
- Geography / regional sciences
- Candidates must have obtained, as a minimum, a university first cycle degree (Bachelor, EQF level 6) in a discipline of relevance to humanitarian action (medical sciences, foods sciences, economics and management, engineering, law, social sciences, education sciences, humanities)
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Candidates are required to have a recognized qualification in the language(s) of instruction of the universities they plan to attend - English is the language of instruction in all universities during all semester except for Aix-Marseilles (French - 1st & 2nd Semester) and Deusto (Spanish - 1st semester only).
- Spanish:
- B2 certificate (according to CEFR).
- French:
- C1 certificate (according to CEFR).
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program
