Admissions at the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences are invited in the Summer and Winter season. Presently, the university offers a selective number of undergraduate and graduate programs. In total, the university offers 24 programs. Flensburg University of Applied Sciences' admission process is managed through the Uni-ASSIST application portal. Both international and domestic applicants are advised to submit their applications before the deadlines issued by the university.

  • Prospective students can apply at the Myassist portal on the uni-assist website.
  • Applicants must submit their applications by January 1 or July 1 according to their target admission session.
  • The university intakes admissions for both summer and winter semesters. However, most of the bachelor courses (except Business Studies, Marine Engineering and Maritime Transport, Nautical Sciences and Logistics and Energy Engineering) commence only in the winter semester.

  • Selected applicants must apply for residence hall accommodation by January 15 and July 15.

  • Applicants are required to submit the application fee of EUR 75. For multiple programs, an additional EUR 30 per application is charged.
  • The university offers programs in two languages- German and English. However, no program is taught in bilingual language.

Due to the COVID pandemic, Flensburg University is following an online-only application method at the uni-assist portal for admissions in the winter session 2020-2021. Therefore students are not required to post their certified copies of transcripts to the uni-assist office. They can simply upload all the required documents online. However, students may be required to submit original transcripts after receiving admission.

Flensburg University of Applied Sciences Admission Deadlines

Academic sessions for 2021 at the university begin in the Summer and Winter. The admission deadlines for each semester are fixed. While international applicants can apply by the regular admission deadline, it is recommended that they submit their applications by the early admission deadline.   • Early deadlines are declared by the university for international students so that they have ample time to apply for a student visa or find necessary accommodation.

Language Proficiency Requirements

All the programs taught at the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences are either in German or in English. Therefore the university requires international applicants to demonstrate a certain level of fluency in these languages. German Language Proficiency

International students applying for courses taught in German like masters in applied bio and food sciences, systems engineering, etc must fulfill the German proficiency requirements laid out by the university. The proficiency certificate must correspond with level C of the CEFR (Common European Framework of references of language). English Language Proficiency

Flensburg University offers undergraduate and graduate courses in both English and German. Students are advised to verify the language of instruction and subsequent language requirements of their applied course. Visa Information for International Students

Selected students are advised to apply for a German visa as soon as they get their letter offer.

Application process:

  • Students are required to contact the nearest German embassy or consulate to book an appointment in order to apply for a student visa.
  • They must download the application form and collect the required documents with two sets of photocopies as mentioned on the embassy website. Students must also carry their original certificates at the time of the appointment.
  • Students can also fill their applications online. However, they must also schedule an interview with a German mission or at the application center.
  • Students should also fulfill the necessary biometric photo test requirements at the nearest VFS center
  • Some embassies accept only demand drafts as a mode of application payment. Students must make sure to check the mode of payment of their target application center.

  • A valid passport and three passport size photos
  • A cover letter or an explanation letter
  • Letter of acceptance from the university
  • Previous Original transcripts along with their translations (if they are not in German or English)

The application process may take up to six to eight weeks. Students are notified of their acceptance or rejection through post or e-mail. Apart from the student visa, non-EU students need to get a residence permit from the local authorities in Germany if the applicant is planning to stay for longer than 3 months. The entire visa process may take up to 2 months. The applicants need to keep track of the status of the application form. The university has been very selective in the admission procedure. Only those students are accepted who not only fulfill the admission requirements but, show great academic potential.

Flensburg University of Applied Sciences Graduate Admissions

The university offers 10 graduate programs to international students. All the programs have similar admission requirements. Applicants must note that each graduate program is taught in either German or English. Therefore, it is recommended that international applicants check the language of instruction before applying for a particular program.
