  • Latin studies deal with the culture of Roman antiquity on the basis of written records. In addition to the Latin language, the non-textual reality is also researched. The aim of the course is to acquire a sound knowledge of the Latin language and literature and to handle the texts critically.
  • The main research areas in Osnabrück are medieval and early modern literature as well as the reception of Latin literature in humanism (especially home reception). There is also interest in the history of classical philology in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Following are the requirements for this program:

  • To start studying, students need a sufficient university entrance qualification.
  • In principle, proof can be provided by both school and vocational training.
  • With regard to school-based university entrance qualifications, a distinction is made between the general higher education entrance qualification, which entitles to study in all courses at a university ( e.g. Abitur), and a subject-related higher education entrance qualification, which enables subject-related study.
