NID DAT 2023 prelims result for B.Des program was released on March 30. Candidates who qualified DAT Prelims are eligible to appear for DAT Mains. NID DAT 2023 Mains result for B.Des programme is going to be released on May 18.

What is NID DAT?
NID DAT 2023 also known as the National Institute of Design, Design Aptitude Test is a national level two-tier entrance test for admissions into four-year undergraduate B.Des( Bachelor of Design) program and two and half year M.Des (Masters of Design) programs offered by NIDs. NID first conducts NID DAT Prelims followed by DAT Mains which are taken by candidates who have qualified for the prelims.
Why NIDs?
NIDs or National Institutes of Design are prestigious institutes that presently offer Bachelor of Designs (B.Des) of four-year duration, Masters of Designs(M.Des) of two and a half year duration, and Ph.D. courses in Design. NID Campus in Ahmedabad with extension campus in Gandhinagar and Bengaluru offer both B.Des and M.Des programs while NID campus in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam offers full-time four-year B.Des courses.

NID DAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria for M.Des: Educational Qualification
In addition to fulfilling the age criteria, candidates must possess one of the following minimum qualifications to become eligible for admissions:
- Candidates should have completed a Bachelor's Degree of a minimum of 4 years duration in any specialization from any recognized university.
- Candidates should have a degree of full-time Diploma of minimum 4-year duration in Design/ Fine Arts/ Applied Arts/ Architecture after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard.
- Candidates should have completed a Bachelor's Degree of a minimum 3-year duration in any specialization, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard.
- Candidates in the final year of their Bachelor's degree/Full-time Diploma program whose universities have not issued the final degree certificate are eligible to apply, In such a case candidates should ensure that they pass in all the subjects without any backlog and are able to submit a provisional degree certificate at the time of document verification for NID DAT 2023.

Foreign citizen candidates holding citizenship of a country other than the Republic of India are eligible to apply for NID DAT 2023 only under the overseas (supernumerary) category.

NID DAT 2023: De-Reservation Rules
- If seats are unfilled in the OBC-NCL category due to no eligible candidates as per the minimum qualifying criteria or non-availability of candidates, the seats will be de- reserved and will be allotted to candidates from the open category.
- Vacant seats under GEN –EWS, SC and ST categories will not be allotted to candidates belonging to other categories.
Candidates must note that after the last date of application, the category chosen by a candidate will be considered as final, and requests for change of category thereafter will not be entertained.

Candidates who have been shortlisted in NID DAT 2023 Prelims will be able to appear for second phase of the exam i.e., NID DAT 2023 Mains.
NID DAT 2023 Shortlisted Candidates
Based on merit list of NID DAT Prelims, eligible candidates will get to appear for NID DAT 2023 Mains. The number of candidates shortlisted will be no less than three times in each category applied for by the candidate. If the total score of two or more candidates in NID DAT 2023 prelims are the same after applying tie- break policy they will be assigned the same rank.
NID DAT 2023 Final Merit List
In order to be considered for the merit list, a candidate must have appeared for all the tests in both NID DAT Prelims 2023 and NID DAT Mains 2023.
The final common merit lists will be generated category wise, based on the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate in NID DAT Prelims 2023 and NID DAT Mains 2023. Separate merit list will be prepared for overseas candidates.
Common NID DAT merit list will be generated based on the percentile score.
Candidates should note that the scores obtained during the application process in 2023-2024 cycle are valid only for admission for this academic year. Also scores obtained in NID DAT exam cannot be used by any person/institution without prior permission of the National Institute of Design.
NID DAT 2023 Minimum Qualifying Criteria
Candidates from the various categories will be considered eligible for admission only if their final percentile score exceeds the minimum qualifying criteria.
Candidates should note on verification, even after admissions any information/document/category certificate are found to be incorrect or invalid that the candidature of such candidate will be summarily stand cancelled.
NID DAT 2023 Cut Off
The cut off of NID 2023 is going to be released after the declaration of results. The candidates get admission in 4-year undergraduate or diploma courses and 2.5 years post graduate courses in design after clearing all the stages of the exam. The expected NID 2023 cutoff is as follows:
