JKCET 2023 Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit, Educational Qualification, and Residency

JKCET 2023 Eligibility Criteria enables J&K candidates to apply for the exam for admission in engineering programs. As per JKCET eligibility criteria, the candidate must have passed the class 12 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board with PCM as compulsory subjects with at least 50% marks to apply for the exam.   • Candidates will have to complete 17 years of age on or before Dec 31, 2023. 
  • Relaxation of 10% in qualifying marks for SC/ST category candidates. 
  • If you are appearing for class 12 then you can also appear for JKCET 2023 test provisionally but need to produce the class 12 mark sheet during the time of admission.

JKCET Eligibility Criteria

JKCET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

  • Only candidates who are permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir State are eligible to apply for JKCET 2023.
  • He or she must have passed Higher Secondary Examination (HSC or 10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.
  • An Open Merit candidate is required to score a minimum of 50% (40% for reserved category candidate) aggregate marks in Higher Secondary Examination (HSC).

JKCET 2023 Minimum Educational Qualification

  • To get admission into the Bachelors of Technology (B. Tech) course, the candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their main subjects.
  • To get admission into Medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, Physiotherapy and BAMS/BUMS, the candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as their main subjects.
  • The students appearing in the qualifying examination (HSC) are also eligible to apply for JKCET 2023. 
  • Such students have to submit their original mark sheets at the time of counselling if they got selected. In case a student is not able to achieve the minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination, then he or she will not be considered for the admission process.

JKCET 2023 Age Criteria

  • The minimum age of the candidate must be 17 years on or before December 31, 2023, if he or she wants to apply for Medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, Physiotherapy and BAMS/BUMS.
  • Any candidate born on or after January 2, 2001, is not eligible to apply for JKCET 2023.
  • The age of the candidate will be considered on the basis of the Date of Birth mentioned in the matriculation certificate of the candidate.

JKCET 2023 Eligibility for Open Merit Candidates

  • Open Merit candidates are those candidates who have registered themselves under the TFW or P&B category.
  • Candidates who want to take admission into MBBS and BDS courses must have passed main subjects English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology independently in 10+2 examinations.
  • He or she must have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the qualifying examination.
  • Moreover, a candidate needs to achieve a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in JKCET 2023 to appear in the merit list prepared by the competent authority.

JKCET 2023 Eligibility for Reserved Category Candidates (SC/ST/Other Backward Classes)

  • A reserved category must score a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in 10+2 examinations.
  • Furthermore, a student is required to score a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in JKCET 2023 to appear in the merit list.
  • Eligibility criteria for Reserved Category students are in compliance with the provisions of Reservation Rules and MCI/DCI Regulations.

The reservation rules are applicable only in government-funded colleges unless specified by a private college.   • If a Reserved Category Certificate submitted by the candidate is found to be invalid, then the candidate will be considered as an Open Merit Candidate. 
  • No notice in this regard will be given by the competent authority. Reserved Category Certificate submitted by the candidate that is already expired or is still under process will not be accepted under any circumstances.
  • If a Reserved Category Certificate is valid at the time of application but expires before the JKCET Counselling Process, then the candidate has to get the certificate renewed on or before the date of counselling. 
  • The candidate has to mention only one reserved category even if you belong to more than one reserved category.
  • Fill the category details properly as a candidate will not be allowed to change the category option once selected at any stage. 
  • The category code provided by the candidate at the relevant serial number of the application number will be taken into consideration.
Central Pool Seats

The details of Central Pool seats are received by BOPEE from different ministries every year. The seats will be allocated to the candidates on the basis of merit. Only those candidates who have qualified JKCET 2023 will be considered for allotment of seats under the Central Pool Category. The details of Central Pool seats are given below in the table:-
