HPCET 2023 (Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by Himachal Pradesh Technical University for admissions into various undergraduate and post-graduate courses. Candidates seeking admission to technical and professional institutes of Himachal Pradesh can apply for the exam in the first week of March 2023 (tentatively). HPCET 2023 Eligibility for Foreign Candidates / NRI
Candidates belonging to foreign nationalities or those candidates who are Non-Resident Indians (NRI) can also apply for HPCET 2023. They must check the eligibility criteria of different institutes in this regard and ensure that they satisfy them.
It may be noted that the NRIs and Foreign Students need not appear for HPCET 2023 Examination to be considered for admission. A merit list based on the marks obtained by them in the qualifying examination will be used to provide admission.
- The minimum HPCET 2023 eligibility criteria for such NRI and Foreign students for admission into HPTU courses are the same as those for Indian students for each program.
- An applicant will be categorized as Non-Resident Indian (NRI) if he fulfills the definition provided by the Income Tax Law of India.
- On the other hand, a foreign candidate will only be considered as such, if he holds a valid foreign passport.
- In addition, he/she must possess a valid visa issued by a competent authority of the Indian Government, clarifying the reason to stay.
HPCET 2023 Reservation
Out of all available seats for admission through HPCET 2023, some are set aside under various quotas and for different categories. The candidates must have complete knowledge regarding HPCET 2023 Reservation scheme before they apply for the exam.
The first category is the All India Quota (AIQ) and seats under this AIQ are filled by candidates belonging to any State or Union Territory (UT) including Himachal Pradesh.
The next category is HP State Quota and these seats are filled by students who have a valid Himachali Bona Fide.
Seats are also reserved for NRI candidates and foreign nationals. Apart from this, there are also management seats in private institutions. Supernumerary and lateral entry seats are also available. The detailed break-up of reservation under various categories is provided below.

HPCET 2023 State Quota Seats
The seats available under Himachal Pradesh State Quota(HPSQ) are further divided according to vertical reservation criteria and horizontal reservation criteria. These divisions are based on minority categories and other special categories.
The HPSQ has 65% of total sanctioned seats and this also includes one seat under Beti Hai Anmol Scheme. This scheme is for female candidates who are single child of their parents and have a valid Himachal Pradesh state domicile. Under this scheme, one seat is reserved for such eligible candidates in each institution.
