The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the revised syllabus for CBSE Class 10 on the official website. There will be no term-wise conduct of examination, rather there will be only on Year End Exam from the A.Y. 2022-23 onwards. CBSE has decided to keep the 30% reduction of the syllabus intact from the previous trend with no other major changes.

CBSE Class 10 Science Syllabus comprises 5 units accounting for a total of 80 marks with 20 marks of Internal Assessment. The topics are based on 5 themes namely:

  • Materials,
  • The World of the Living,
  • Natural Phenomena,
  • How Things Work,
  • Natural Resources.

CBSE Class 10 Syllabus also includes a list of Practicals to be performed alongside the theory concepts being taught.

This article will discuss CBSE Class 10 Science Syllabus in detail,

CBSE 10 Science Syllabus: Preparation Tips

CBSE 10 Science Syllabus: Preparation Tips

  • Fundamentals & Basic Concepts: Science is all about Theories, Concepts and Formulae. To get a good hold on Science and perform well in Exams, one must have a clear understanding of the underlying principles and concepts.
  • Learning Process: One cannot effectively study science by mugging it. Learn the concepts with examples and applications. Read and understand the underlying theory for every concept. Read, understand and then derive formulae on your own and solve problems based on them, this way you won’t have to memorize every formula if you know what it means, what it is used for and how it is acquired.
  • Study Everyday: No matter how mundane it may seem, studying for even a small period of time everyday will help you acquire better results. Consistency in short bursts of study everyday will beat long hours of study on exam night.
  • Practice: There is no alternative to practice. Science, like mathematics, requires consistent practice to hone the skills and concepts. Practice with textbook examples, Previous-Year Question Papers, Sample Question Papers.
  • Practicals: Rather than memorizing practicals, Understand the steps, their needs and their outcomes. This will help you understand the practical and perform the same promptly.
  • Time Management: Time management is one of the key components in acing the CBSE Class 10 Science Exam. To cover the vast amount of syllabus and then attempting the entire question paper in a particular period of time requires a good hold on time management. Plan your routine during exam week, plan how you will attempt the questions presented in front of you and proceed accordingly.
