Ques. Which is better, IIT Hyderabad CSE or IIT Madras EE?

● Top Answer By Mansi Bhatnagar on 29 Feb 24

Ans. This question can only have a subjective answer. I have myself done my B.Tech EE from IIT Madras, but I would recommend you consider several factors before arriving at a decision- Your subject of interest matters a lot, even more than your college. Make sure to select the branch that interests you. Take a good look at the curriculum and course offerings of both these options, and find out which of them aligns with your career/academic goals. Also consider the specialization opportunities offered by each option.  Look at the research interests and projects undertaken by faculty members of each program. Realize whose interests align with you the most. Getting into research work at UG level will only be beneficial for you. Take a visit to both the institutes or consult some seniors to find out which one offers better infrastructure, campus life and other facilities.  Personally speaking, I’ve had an excellent experience at the Electrical department of IIT Madras. So, if you don’t have a particular interest in CS, you may very well consider EE at IITM.Read more

Ques. How is the placement of ECE branch in BIT Mesra?

● Top Answer By Sapna Malik updated on 01 Mar 24

Ans. You’ll receive ample placement opportunities at BIT Mesra, given that you understand electronics well. You may consider joining Robolution, which will give you an edge over the others. Qualcomm visits the ECE department with good offers. A few years back, it appointed 4-5 ECE students for a package of 15 LPA. If you are willing to put in the extra effort and learn coding, you may get into good IT companies. Some of them being- Microsoft, Amazon and IBM. Academically, the ECE department of BIT Mesra isn’t the most ideal choice. This is because the department faculty is strict, and the curriculum is tough. If you couldn’t get CSE at BIT Mesra, you can try for IT instead of ECE. The ECE branch requires a lot of effort and time, which can be overwhelming.Read more

Ques. How is the electrical branch at NIT Raipur?

● Top Answer By Deepesh Verma on 12 Sept 23

Ans. The Electrical branch at NIT Raipur is highly reputed in India. Here is a list of its pros and cons that will help you understand the credibility of the branch. Pros The branch has an excellent faculty profile who are highly experienced and learned. Their Letter of Recommendation can shape your career for the better given that you have good grades and projects. The department won’t detain you for skipping classes and I can prepare for GATE/CAT whenever you have free time. NIT Raipur conducts several competitions like VIGYAAN, the science exhibition, robotics workshops, etc. that give students knowledge and interest in the field of robotics. The college provides pretty decent internship opportunities to students in companies like Tata Steel, Vedanta, TVS, Jindal, BARC, etc Last year, the branch received 62 offers in all and the students eligible for placements were 68. Cons The learning environment is not well-facilitated. The lab sessions are monotonous and the equipment is obsolete The syllabus is outdated and needs revision and upgradation. Core jobs are rare so most of the students are placed in software companies. The infrastructure is not up to the mark which affects the learning experience. The gender ratio is poor, around 1:5 for girls: and boys. The exposure offered is limited and very few industrial visits are made.  Ultimately, it depends on your talents and interests if this branch is good for you or not!Read more

Ques. Which is better for electrical engineering: MNIT Jaipur or MNNIT Allahabad?

● Top Answer By Sabeer Chalana on 19 Oct 23

Ans. I researched on both the colleges, and here is my answer to your query- MNNIT Allahabad is far better then MNIT Jaipur for Electrical Engineering. MNNIT has better placements and academics for Electrical branch.  MNIT is situated in the middle of the city, so you can easily join coaching classes for GATE, ESE, and other competitive exams. But then, many students from MNNIT clear GATE, IES, Civil Services, etc. because of its academic friendly environment. Both the colleges perform equally well in rankings.  I would recommend you join MNNIT Allahabad for your Electrical degree. Read more

Ques. Is the electrical engineering department the best in IIT Bombay?

● Top Answer By Advait Joshi on 21 Mar 23

Ans. I haven’t heard of many people who actually join Electrical Engineering because they want to genuinely pursue Electrical. Rather most students take Electrical because their JEE Rank did not allow them admission to any other branch. In fact, some even take Electrical Engineering and opt for minors that match with their areas of interest. When it comes to interdisciplinary subjects, IIT Bombay provides the perfect chance to do so. What usually happens is that students are unaware of their area of interest while choosing their branch during admission. As a result they end up taking disciplines that match their ranks rather than interests. However, if you are clear about your choice of branch, don’t hesitate and go for it without thinking much of your rank. Although difficult, you can always change your branch if you later regret choosing that specific branch. I always suggest aspirants only choose the branch on the basis of their preferences and not the placements. Even if you land a good job, you will never be satisfied if you are working in an area that does not intrigue or excite you.Read more

Ques. How is IIT Bhubaneswar Electrical as compared to other new IITs like Mandi, Indore, Hyderabad, Ropar, Gandhinagar, Dhanbad etc.?

● Top Answer By Aikantika Roy on 09 Jul 21

Ans. Since my cousin used to be a student of IIT Dhanbad, I might be able to give you some facts about the college which might give you a proper insight. IIT ISM was formerly known as ISM Dhanbad. It boasted of a rich legacy and an equally rich infrastructure which is not true for the newly established IITs. IIT ISM is technically a new IIT but practically it is not. Because of the IIT tag, IIT Bhubaneswar and a number of other IITs had a very low opening and closing ranks. IIT ISM initially had a high opening and closing rank. Many candidates did not want to join IIT ISM even after cracking JEE. Many major companies visited the campus of IIT ISM during placements. The salary package has been going up and the number of companies visiting the campus has also been increasing. Some of the big names are PSUs namely OIL, MECL, CIL, IOCL, BPCL, ONGC, etc. Categories IIT ISM Course Fee 8.75 lakh Highest CTC 12 LPA Average CTC 6-7 LPA You can get a good job if you go for IIT ISM, as good as a job you can get from its Bhubaneswar counterpart.Read more
