Qualifications Required to Become an Artist

Since there are various stratifications of Artists, the eligibility criteria is also different for different roles. But some of the criteria are general and are applicable to all. Some of the qualifications are provided below for your reference, 

• Candidates applying for commercial artists must complete class 10 board exam along with 5 year degree courses in art as some of the art schools offer art courses after class 10th.
• Candidates who are opting to continue with 10+2 education, must complete it before applying for any program with a minimum aggregate of 45% or above from a recognized board.
• Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or a diploma in Art along with specialization in an area of interest.
• Some of the art schools conduct entrance exams such as NIFT, NID, to get admission in bachelor of fine Arts.
• To pursue Fine Arts, candidates from any field can apply for the course.
• Candidates can pursue undergraduate degrees such as BA Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts etc.

How to Become an Artist in India

To become an Artist in India, there is no age or a particular criteria. This profession is wholly based on talent and skills. This profession can be started by choice of interest only but if the candidate wants to pursue courses then they can choose from various Diploma to Post Graduate courses that are available. • The main focus of the fine and performing arts is to guide the candidate in the field, make them aware of the techniques and styles, teach them about the specific terms, etc. This will help the candidate further in polishing their skills. 
• To pursue a higher degree, the candidate must have scored 50% aggregate. To pursue a higher degree from abroad, the candidate must score above 70%.

How to Become an Artist Abroad

There are several other countries such as the UK, USA, Canada and Australia who offer different courses to become an Artist. Many top Universities and Colleges as well offer both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses for aspirants who wish to pursue fine arts. However, before applying for these courses one should fulfill basic requirements that are discussed below for your reference. 

• The candidate must have completed their 10+2 from a recognized board with minimum aggregate of 60% or above.
• The candidates must have cleared either IELTS or TOEFL in order to be eligible to apply for universities abroad.
• Candidates must produce a well-written Statement of Purpose (SOP) for studying in universities abroad.
• The candidate must submit a Letter of recommendation of the academic professionals from the last attended institute. 
• In the case of PG programs, the candidates must have a minimum aggregate of 70% or above.
