Ques. Should I do BA programme from St. Stephens or English honours from JMC?

● Top Answer By Sugandhi Roy on 29 Oct 21

Ans. I have friends from both St. Stephens and JMC. Here are a few of the information that I got from them.  St. Stephens is a prestigious college with its own sets of rules and code of conduct. It has a good campus. If you want to explore ideas, places and have a decent campus life then St. Stephens is a great option. JMC is an off-campus college. So, you won’t have access to campus. It is a girl’s college with strict rules.  Now coming to the courses, in English honors, you will learn about a myriad of texts from different countries and different time periods. However, you will have to spend your three years around poetry and prose. You won’t get to experience much diversity when it comes to subjects. For the BA program, however, you can choose all subjects from Social Science. There are many combinations that you can opt for.  So, I will suggest that you choose the program which will keep you interested for the next three years. College life will be similar irrespective of the institute. Also, gone are the days when students with honors degrees were treated superior to the students who pursued programs. Read more

Ques. Which college is better, JMC or DCAC for a BA programme?

● Top Answer By Deepika Roy on 29 Oct 21

Ans. I have friends from both JMC and DCAC. Based on their experience, I will say DCAC is a better option.  The student crowd at the institute is diverse. Facilities at DCAC are well-experienced and helpful. It got high ratings from NAAC and India Today Magazine. The institute offers add-on certificates and diplomas in foreign language courses.  DCAC has great infrastructural facilities. There is a library with a great collection of books. There is also a gym and table tennis room on campus. The auditorium is equipped with special lights and sound effects.  DCAC campus has a basketball court, a volleyball court. DCAC is not that strict about attendance. JMC is definitely a reputed college, however, in comparison, DCAC is better.Read more

● Top Answer By Sreetoma Rana on 13 Oct 21

Ans. One of my friends is an alumnus of Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College (DAVC), who studied B.Sc. Here is his experience in brief.  The teaching approach of the faculty members is impressive. The admission in the B.A. program, based on merit and seat availability. The infrastructure of the college is also decent.  As a BA student, you will have the opportunities to prove yourself in academics and co-curricular activities.  The competitions, parties, etc. will make you more comfortable speaking in public.  The library is great and so is the overall environment on campus.  Doing BA from DAV college can be a great option if you are interested in the Civil Service examination.  DAVC is an ordinary college, but it is an excellent institute for pursuing an undergraduate degree. Read more
