Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law was established in the year 1979. Initially the institution was affiliated to the Bombay University until the birth of the Goa University, to which it is affiliated today.
The college offers courses like BA.LLB and LLB at undergraduate level, and LLM at postgraduate level. Admission to UG courses is done on the basis of marks scored in entrance test conducted by the college followed by personal interview. Admission to LLM is done on the basis of marks obtained at the 5 years or 3 years LL.B. Programme.
At undergraduate level, Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law offers BA.L.L.B and L.L.B to the aspiring candidates who want to pursue their career in the field of Law. The duration period for BA.LLB and LLB are five years and three years respectively.
The college conducts an entrance examination in order to give admission to the eligible candidates. However, good marks in entrance exam does not guarantee admission to the UG courses. The candidates who have been shortlisted after the entrance exam will have to appear in personal interview conducted by the college.
Relaxation of 5% marks is given to SC/ST candidates in comparison to 45% for GEN/OBC candidates.

The college also offers postgraduate course such as LLM in the field of Law. the duration period is two years.
To be eligible for admission to the LL.M. Programme, a candidate shall be required to have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate at the 5 years or 3 years LL.B. Programme, recognized by the Bar Council of India.
Admission to the LL.M. Programme is based on merit. The Merit List shall be prepared, based on the highest score obtained by the candidate at the 5 years or 3 years LL.B. Programme.
