Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala is also known as NSNIS was established in the year 1961 at Patiala Monumental Building. The institute functions under the Sports Authority of India is renowned as Asia’s largest Sports Institute.
The institute offers various diploma and degree programs in the field of Science and Sports.The basic criteria for selection is Graduation in any stream along with proficiency in the particular sport.
There are a number of skill development certification courses available as well. The institute is known for certification in coaching that admits in-service physical education teachers with minimum qualification of 10+2.

For Graduates, NSNIS offers a 2 years Master’s degree in coaching for which candidates need to appear in a written test conducted by the academy.
NSNIS provides PG Diploma courses in Sport Medicine for Medicine or MBBS graduates. The selection is based on merit and number of seats available as per various quotas.
An active placement cell encourages students as well as organisations to participate in p[placement drives annually.

Eligibility
Candidates seeking admissions to M.Sc. degree Program at NSNIS must satisfy following eligibility criterias:
- Graduate in any stream from any recognized Indian/Foreign university.
- Applicants should have passed Diploma course in Sports Coaching from S.A.I., N.S.N.I.S., Patiala or its other academic centres with at least 60% marks.
- Must have aptitude for research work Sports Proficiency.
Other criteria
- Upper age limit must not exceed 45 years on the day of commencement of the Program
- For deserving candidates, institute may provide a relaxation of 3 years

Eligibility
Candidates seeking admissions to Certificate courses at NSNIS must be a professional working in schools/colleges/universities/industrial houses and other sports associated institutions.
Other criteria
- Applicant should have passed higher secondary or 10+2 from a recognised Board
- Must have obtained 1st, 2nd, 3rd positions in district championship of particular sport or must have participated in state/university level championships
- Age as on May 14th, 2021 must be between 20-40 years (relaxation of 5 years for reserved category students)

The Program is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot (BFUHS) and is recognised by Medical Council of India.
Eligibility
- Candidates seeking admissions to PG Diploma course at NSNIS must have passed Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) examination from any Indian/Foreign University recognised by Medical Council of India
- Must have 1 year compulsory rotatory internship
- Must possess permanent registration with MCI or any State Medical Council
- NRI candidates are required to obtain Post Graduation study registration from Medical Council of India
Selection Criteria
For admissions, a total of 6 seats are available, 3 under All India Quota and 3 under State/Institutional Quota. Selection to All India Quota is done by MCC and State Quota is conducted by BFUHS University on the basis of merit.
