Master of Computer Application (MCA) is a three year master degree course in computer applications. Any graduate student who has passed or appearing in final year exam is eligible for MCA course. BCA qualified students more preferably opt for this course. MCA is considered equivalent to engineering. MCA graduates are same as software engineers. MCA course is very popular after Computer Science in engineering. There are about 80000 seats available in about 1500 colleges offering MCA course across India.
After earning an MCA degree from a reputed Institute, there is plethora of job opportunities available in the market. There is a wide scope for MCA graduates in government as well as private sector. Aspirants seeking to get admission in a full-time program should fulfill the following eligibility criteria:-
Passed with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only) in any Bachelors degree awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination.
Note:- The candidates who have passed Bachelor of Computer Application(BCA), Bachelor of Computer Science(BCS), Bachelor of Science (Computer/Information Technology) degree courses are not required to fulfill the requirement of having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination
