Government College Kattappana is a government college in the centre of the pristine location in Idukki, Kerala. The college was established in the year 1977 with an intention to match the demand for higher education in the rural population. The college is now affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and approved by UGC. In September 2016, Government College Kattappana was accredited with 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

- Hostel: Government College Kattappana offers hostel facilities to the male students. The female hostel along with staff quarters is still under – construction. - Laboratories: The institute provides well –equipped labs with all the modern amenities introducing the students with a new age of education. There is special care taken to keep them up to date and in good shape.
- Library: The library at Government College Kattappana has over 30000 books, more than fifty journals and thousands of e-journals. The library provides separate sections for reference books, academic books and literature. The library also provides facilities for downloading and printing of e-journals on campus. A multipurpose library is also under – construction.
- Sports and games: Government College Kattappana provides sports and recreational facilities for the students through the sports and recreational centre of the college. Different outdoor and indoor games are played by the students either on the ground or the activity rooms allotted by the college, when they wish to take a break.
