Bejoy Narayan Mahavidyalaya which is also known as the Itachuna College is the only higher education institute located in the Itachuna area of Hoogly district of West Bengal.
The college was established back in 1950 and was affiliated by the University of Calcutta in its initial years. But since 1957, the college is now functioning under the affiliation of the University of Burdwan.
The college currently offers Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees both as Honors and as a general degree.
All students will be admitted to the institute based on their performance in the qualifying examination. All standard reservations of the government of India will be applicable.

Specialization
Passing the 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 45% marks is required to apply for the B.A. honors courses at the Bejoy Narayana Mahavidyalaya.
For the Economics honours course, a prospective student will have to pass Mathematics/Business Mathematics or any equivalent subject at the 10+2 level.
The marks obtained in the 10+2 level examination will be used to prepare the merit list. In general, the best five subjects except of the compulsory environmental science will be used to prepare the merit list. However, for certain subjects the college may use a different policy for creating the merit list.
Currently, Bejoy Narayana Mahavidyalaya offers Bachelor of Science degrees with honours on six subjects. All courses are three years long and only offered to the students of the day section of the college.

Specialization
The general requirement for all B.Sc honours courses at Bejoy Narayana Mahavidyalaya is the successful completion of the 10+2 examination with relevant subjects with at least 45% marks.
Additionally, students who are applying for the Bio-Chemistry and/or Biotechnology honours courses must pass in all science subject papers at the 10+2 level. And those applying for the Nutrition program need to pass the chemistry paper in their qualifying exam to be eligible.
The students will be selected based on the marks secured by them in the qualifying examination. Generally, the best five subjects excluding environmental science will be taken into consideration but the college may adopt separate policies for particular subjects.
The General courses at the Bejoy Narayana Mahavidyalaya are affiliated by the University of Burdwan. These courses are three years long and require the students to choose a combination consisting of three subjects among the available combinations.

For admission to the B.Sc and B.A. general courses at the Bejoy Narayana Mahavidyalaya, a prospective student must pass their 10+2 examination from a board recognized by the government.
The selection process for the general courses will completely depend on the performance in the qualifying exam. A merit list will be prepared by the college based on the total number secured by the applicants in the best five subjects in the 10+2 examination.
