Yashwantrao Charan Warana Mahavidyalaya (YCWM), Kolhapur is named in the memory of ex-deputy prime minister late Shri. Yashwantrao Chavan, who was shares a close friendship with late. Shri. Tatyasaheb Kore and he was a great source of inspiration for the institution.  It was dream of founder president to create “new human race” with the help of higher education. The institute always works in achieving only one mission that is  “to become an academy of excellence in higher education and human resources development in rural area." And this goal according to them can be achieved by standing united and focused on transforming  of rural youth of Warana, moving in the direction of self-reliance, confidence and enlightenment.

• The institution received permanent affiliation in 2002 and NAAC Reaccreditation in January 2011 as ‘B’.
• Institution has developed a rich and resourceful library of books, periodicals, journals,encyclopedia and nicely  fabricated building spread over an area of 677.48 sq. meters.
• The infrastructure facilities available for sports includes huge Shivaneri Sports Complex with all necessary kits for sports like Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Hand Ball, Cricket, Foot Ball, etc. Spacious playgrounds are available for the games like Kabbadi and Kho-kho. Running track having eight lanes.
• The campus comprises of two main buildings, 1 for library, 2 for boy's hostels, 4 ladies' hostel, nonresidential students recreation hall and 12 blocks for staff quarters. The two main buildings house 45-classrooms and 13 laboratories.
