North Malabar Institute of Technology (NMIT), the first Engineering College in Kerala which started implementing Academic Audit System. It was established in 2012 by the North Malabar Educational and Charitable Trust which is a group of visionaries from North Malabar and their friends and relatives whose motto is to provide true engineering values. The college offers B.TECH courses in as many as five branches. The college is affiliated to Kannur University. North Malabar Institute of Technology is located at a place near Kanhangad Municipal Town which is a very green and clean area hence providing a soothing atmosphere to the students. It is just 8 km away from Kanhangad Railway Station and from the nearest Bus Stand as well and also it is 6 km from Mavungal Junction.
