Maheshtala College came into existence in 1971 at Kolkata. The academic institution offers education in three streams namely Arts, Science and Commerce. The courses are accredited by NAAC and affiliated to the University of Kolkata. Sprawling over 3188 sq. m. of area, the academy accommodates over 1384 students annually.
Apart from regular academics, there are UGC funded career oriented courses in fields of Journalism, Mass Communication, Photography and Video Production.
Other facilities for students include 25 classrooms, 1 digital classroom, ladies hostel, central library, canteen, laboratories, college office as well as common rooms.

Maheshtala College UG Eligibility
- The minimum requirement for admission into any of the UG courses is a pass in HSC/ 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized university.
- Also, candidates must have scored full marks (100) in English
- For the Honours courses, candidates must have secured 50% aggregate marks in 10+2.
Selection Criteria
Selection for UG courses solely depends upon merit in the qualifying exam (10+2).

- Maheshtala approves Government sanctioned scholarships for minority and girls including the Kanyashree Scheme
