Asian Workers Development Institute (AWDI) was established in the year 1981 under the Bastia Memorial Trust. It is affiliated to Sambalpur University. The college offers PGDM, PG Diploma Industrial Personnel Management (PGDIRPM), PG Diploma in Industrial Safety (PDIS), Diploma in Environmental Education Management (DEEM) and B.Lib. in various specializations.
- CAT/MAT or JEE score is mandatory to secure admission in PGDM program followed by the performance in Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
- PDIS admission is offered on the basis of merit in qualifying degree through Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTE&T), Odisha followed by web-based counselling.

The institute invites applications from eligible candidates in online and offline modes. The steps to file an application are:
Online Process:
- Online registration can be made under the ‘Admission’ tab by clicking on the link ‘Apply Online’.
- Candidates have to follow the instructions and fill all the required personal and academic details.
- On successful submission of the form, an Identification No (ID) will be allotted to the candidates that are required to be saved for future reference.
- The application fee has to be paid in the form of DD from any nationalized bank in favor of "Asian Workers Development Institute" payable at Rourkela.
Offline Process:
