Sri Muthukumaran Institute of Technology (SMIT) Chennai Admission 2024: Cut Off, Admission schedule

SMIT offers admission into four-year degree course of B.E in 8 specializations and B.Tech under 3 specializations. B.E aspirants must have passed Class 12^th examination with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Candidates who have passed Class 12^th examination Vocational Stream (Vocational groups in Engineering / Technology) as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu are also eligible for TNEA counselling.

Admissions to B.E are conducted on the basis of merit of Class 12^th and TNEA  counselling. TNEA is a non-entrance based counselling conducted by Anna University. Candidates seeking admissions must register for TNEA counselling and follow the procedures thereby.

• Candidates seeking admissions in B.E through TNEA can apply online for admissions.
• Application forms for TNEA counselling are available in online mode only.
• The eligibility criteria such as marks, the number of attempts and the mode of admission are prescribed by the Syndicate of the University.
• Candidates should have completed 21 years of age as on first of July. For SC/ST candidates, the age limit is relaxed by 3 years.

The institute offers postgraduate degrees of M.E in 6 specializations, MCA and an MBA program.

Candidates applying for M.E should have passed Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the relevant stream with Mathematics at 10+2 level and secured minimum 50% (45% for reserved category). They must have valid GATE score. MBA aspirants must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum 50% (45% for reserved category).

Candidates seeking admissions into any PG course must have a valid TANCET score and should register for counselling conducted by Anna University. Admissions will be based on the ranks obtained by candidates in the entrance exam.

TANCET is conducted by Anna University for admission into various postgraduate courses offered in engineering and management colleges of Tamil Nadu.

Note: Candidates applying from any university other than Anna University must produce recognition certificate at the time of admission.

The college grants Ph.D. degree in 2 specializations of Engineering. Admissions are conducted as per the rules and procedures of Anna University. The minimum eligibility is a Master’s degree in the relevant branch of Engineering.

Selection to the research program is based on the performance in the written test and interview conducted by competent authority.

Note: Candidates selected for Ph.D. by the university can apply for July session on the website.
