Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants seeking admission to 4 year Full-time B.Tech Program should meet the following criteria specified by the institute.

Academic Requirement:

Candidate must have Passed 12th Class of 10+2 pattern of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics provided the candidate has passed in each subject separately. Candidate must additionally have passed English as a subject of study(core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination. There is a provision for a 5 % relaxation on marks for SC /ST Students.

Entrance Exam:

All applicants must appear in Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main Paper 1 Conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). The University shall not conduct its own CET for admissions, but shall utilize the merit of JEE Main Paper 1. The admissions would be based on merit/rank in the JEE. Registration to GGSIPU Website for admission is compulsory.

Should I get a Bachelor's of Technology in computer science from MSIT GGSIPU or SRM Chennai? Why?

Choose MSIT if you want to prioritize degree value over cost. Otherwise, go with SRM. MSIT CSE placements are excellent, but if you live in a politically neutral environment with large campuses, consider SRM, Chennai.

Technical societies, such as IEEE, are very active, and if you are fortunate enough to be a part of them, it is better for you in terms of placement and 'knowledge building.

If you are serious about expanding your knowledge, there are a few amazing teachers as well as seniors who can assist and guide you. It is entirely up to you to make the most of the available opportunities.

I'm about to pursue my B.Tech from MSIT (CSE). I've heard that people in IPU don't get time to pursue other stuff like programming and other hobbies. Is it true?

One of my friends is a final year student at MAIT - IT. And here is some statistics provided by him, which I think will clear your doubts.

Several students from MSIT, more than even a 100, are seen to regularly participate in online coding contests. You check on Codechef to find out the ratings, participants, and various similar information. Apart from that, students actively participate in various other platforms like TopCoder, SPOJ, Codeforce, HackerRank, and more. MAIT has many great programmers.
You will encounter many such individuals on campus who are preparing for examinations like GRE, GATE, CAT, and more.
The same students are also involved in several clubs and societies, besides initiating blueprints of their own startup. This is despite managing above 80% academically.
Students also engage in sports like football, cricket, badminton, and various others.

You can have hobbies and maintain your academic profile side by side. It depends on whether or not you are interested in accomplishing it.

Which is better CSE from BPIT or IT from MSIT (second shift)?

MSIT is definitely better than BPIT when it comes to computer science engineering. BPIT is not that bad but not as good when compared to MSIT.

Placements at BPIT are getting better each year but MSIT is still leading. The table below should provide you with a better perspective on the same:

Should I pursue ECE from MSIT or CS from BPIT?

Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (MSIT) and Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology (BPIT) both are private engineering colleges in New Delhi affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU). There is not much of a difference between them in terms of the syllabus of the branches.

Here are some of the things that you should know about the two courses.

Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE):

The prerequisite for doing well in this branch is a strong grasp of mathematics.
Most of the subjects in this branch are logic-based and if your mathematics is good, then you can easily score and get some good grades.
As for placements, core companies almost do not visit any of the two colleges (hardly 1 or 2). However, jobs in the service-based sector are plentiful and you can easily get them on the campus of MSIT with almost no knowledge of ECE.

Computer Science and Engineering (CSE):

There is no prerequisite for doing well in CSE at BPIT and you can easily score good grades.
Top companies like Amazon, Commvault also visit the campus along with service-based companies such as TCS, Wipro, etc.

Which is better CS at ITM (NCU) Gurgaon or CS at MSIT?

ITM (NCU) Gurgaon (Now The North Cap University, Gurgaon) outperforms MSIT college. Having friends studying in both these colleges, I can assure you that there are many reasons behind choosing ITM.

They have better placement records in the CS and IT fields in recent years. Students are offered a good salary package.
Top companies such as Wipro, Accenture, TCS, and Infosys are frequent visitors offering placements, internships and industry visits.
They have better infrastructure facilities.
The faculty members are well experienced and highly educated.
A well-equipped library is provided.
Labs with high-speed internet and cutting-edge software are also provided.

Should I go for CS in MSIT or ECE from MAIT?

First of all, both the branches differ a lot from each other. Thus, you need to understand which branch you are inclined to. Also, keep in mind that you can change your field from ECE to CSE but not vice versa. So, choosing CSE can get you an advantage in many ways. My friend is currently studying CSE in MSIT and here’s what his experience says.

Dedicated faculty: Most teachers are well experienced and really enjoy what they teach you. If you have even smallest of the doubts, do not hesitate as they will assist you whenever you need them. Especially in the CSE department, teachers are really cooperative.

Infrastructure: If you visit both MSIT and MAIT, you will find that MAIT has a tad bit better infrastructure.

Location: MSIT definitely has a location advantage as you can find various hangout spots around the institute and even the nearest metro of Janakpuri East is just 5 minutes away. On the other hand, MAIT lacks proximity to metro and hangout spots.

Placements: While both the colleges have great placements, the CSE branch will get you better packages and increased opportunities, like any other college In India.

According to the recent placement data the highest and average CTC offered at MSIT is 47 LPA and 3.6 LPA. For MAIT the average and highest CTC is 3 LPA and 28 LPA.

All in all, both MAIT and MSIT are reputed private colleges of Delhi. The biggest thing that makes the difference here is the branch you choose. No doubt CSE has an upper hand over ECE as mentioned above.
