The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) was established in 1972 in Imphal, India. It is run by a society named "North Eastern Regional Medical College Society" which was duly registered under the Manipur Societies.
The college offers a bunch of medical courses in the field of Medical, Dental, Nursing, Urology etc. In addition to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, the institute also offers Doctoral degree courses.

The institute provides Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programmes at the undergraduate level. Duration of MBBS course is 5.5 years whereas the duration of BDS programme is 4 years.
The candidates seeking admission in MBBS and BDS courses, must have to appear an entrance exam, popularly known as National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET), as per the norm of supreme court. The candidates are selected on the basis of marks obtained in NEET. The institute provides a relaxation of 5% marks for admission in MBBS and BDS, for the candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing) is another UG level course, provided by the institute with a duration period of four years. The capacity intake of the programmes is 50. Candidates seeking admission in the programme, need to have Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English in the 10+2 level.
The admission in B.Sc Nursing programme is made by the marks obtained in 10+2 level examination.
There is a 5% marks relaxation offered by the institute, to the candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

At the postgraduate level, the institute offers Medicine of Doctor (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) and PG Diploma to their respective candidates. The duration of MD and MS is three years, whereas the PG Diploma holds a duration of two years.
Candidates must need to secure an MBBS degree from a recognized university to admit the eligible criteria of MD, MS and Diploma.
Willing candidates need to go through an entrance exam commonly known as NEET, conducted by NBE. The institute makes their selection by the performance of candidates in NEET.
