What's New in MGIMS?

NEET UG 2024 will be held on May 5, 2024, for admission to MBBS at MGIMS Wardha. NEET PG 2024 will be held on March 3, 2024, for admission to MD/ MS at MGIMS Wardha.

Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Wardha also known as MGIMS came into existence in 1969 and is located at Sevagram, Maharashtra.

The NAAC accredited medical institution is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences or MUHS, Nashik. 

MGIMS offers UG, PG, Ph.D. and Diploma programmes under the guidelines of various departments to eligible students. Admissions are purely done on the basis of merit in the qualifying exam.

The institute had been ranked 5th best among India Today ranked colleges in Maharashtra in 2019 and ranked 5th position in 2019 as one of the best colleges in Maharashtra.

The academic institution has an MBBS course for undergraduates approved by the Medical Council of India. Admissions are done on the basis of 10+2 grades and score in NEET Medical entrance exam. 

MGIMS offers 9 specialisations each in Ph.D, M.S and Diploma courses, and 18 specialisations in MD programme. Admission to post graduate level programmes are done as per the guidelines of MUHS and NEET exam results.

MGIMS MBBS Admission 2023

MGIMS offers admission into its MBBS programme for which admissions are strictly on the basis of NEET entrance examination which is further followed by counselling. The duration of the programme is 4.5 years.

It is approved by the Medical Council of India or MCI. In 2019, the institution conducted its first ever batch of MBBS in August.

MGIMS MBBS Eligibility Criteria

  • For seeking admissions to MBBS course, a candidate must have passed higher secondary/10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology
  • Individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English is mandatory
  • Must have secured 50% marks (40% for reserved category) in aggregate

Notes:

  • Lower age limit cannot be less than 17 years and upper age limit permissible is 25 years (30 years for reserved category)
  • Must have secured at least 50 percentile (40 percentile for reserved category) in NEET entrance exam

MGIMS MBBS Selection Criteria

Admissions are one the basis of marks in 10+2 exam as well as score of NEET entrance exam. MGIMS conducts a pre-medical entrance exam that is counted as one of the criteria for admission to MBBS.

NEET Counselling

The counselling session for 2021 will commence in July 2021 conducted by Directorate General of Health Services. Candidates will be called for counselling on the basis of merit list published. There is a provision of resigning or surrendering seats allotted in the process as well. Once selected, candidates need to visit the college to complete other formalities including documentation and fee payment.

MGIMS M.S Admission 2023

MGIMS offers an M.S programme for which admissions are on the basis of NEET PG entrance examination. The duration of the programme is 3 years. The programme is offered under 9 specializations.

  • Must have completed 2 year of rural service
  • For counselling, a candidate must have at least 50 percentile (40 percentile for reserved category) marks in NEET PG
  • Must be an Indian citizen

 Admission will be done on the basis of score of NEET entrance exam by means of counselling.

A candidate must have passed Master’s degree with minimum 50% marks (40% for reserved category) from a recognised University.

How to Apply for MGIMS?

Eligible students need to apply online on the official website once the NEET exam results are declared within 7 days. After complete screening, :merit list will be published on the website. Selected students will be called for counselling in the campus with required documents.

  • Original educational documents with 3 set of attested photocopies of the same
  • Scanned copy of documents in .jpeg or pdf format with size not exceeding 500KB
  • Scanned copy of photo and signature with size not exceeding 5KB
  • Admission, security and other fees.

MGIMS Scholarships

The institute in itself does not offer any financial aid or scholarship to students. However it accepts Government approved scholarships. The details are furnished below.

Short Term Studentship Programme or STS

The scholarship is provided by Indian Council of Medical Research annually to MCI recognised Medical College students. In January 2021, it will be awarded to 1200 MBBS students and 300 BDS students. Interested students need to apply online at ICMR website.

The value of studentship is INR 10000 per month for two months duration.

FAQs

Ques. Does the college provide management quota seats?

Ans. No, at MGIMS admissions are on a purely merit basis as per the guidelines of University guidelines. There are no management or NRI quota seats available.

Ques. Is there provision for accommodation?

Ans. Yes, the courses provided by the academy are residential, therefore the campus includes accommodation and hostel facilities for girls and boys. The fees and security deposit for hostel accommodation is included in the admission fees.

Ques. Does college offer 100% placement assistance?

Ans. Being a medical college, MGIMS provides 100% placement assistance to its UG and PG students. Salary depends on the working organisation and merit but it usually ranges from 45000 to 1 lakh for MBBS students.
