- Students are expected to attend departmental seminars. They are required to give at least one seminar on their thesis during the course of their study.
- Students must pass a PhD preliminary (oral) exam, designed to test the depth and breadth of their knowledge in areas related to their research.
- Students are encouraged to take the exam in their second or third year of PhD study, and it must be taken at least one year before their PhD thesis defense.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students have to complete the thesis Master’s degree or it's equivalent from a first-class division from the recognized university.
- A minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.33 (B grade) in the last 60 credit hours of study is required to be eligible for the program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they have completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

- Confirmation of Employment Form: Students must be emailed as an attachment by applicant or referee.
- Proof of name change: Required only if name discrepancies exist between transcripts/assessments/test scores and other application documents. Examples of proof: Marriage/divorce certificates, 2 copies of government-issued ID that include a previous and current name and date of birth.
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
