Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Law or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- A grade point average of 7.0/9.0 (A- average) in the work of the last two years (30 units) leading to the bachelor’s degree.
- A dissertation proposal and research interests that align with the interdisciplinary Law and Society focus of our program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- Students must complete a bachelor’s and master's degree in Law or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- The minimum grade score for a degree should be 7/10 (60%), first class.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

The following required documents are:
- Resume/CV: It is the outline of academic achievements and/or awards, publications, relevant work, and/or volunteer experience.
- Two Letter of Recommendation: Letter of recommendation (combination of professional and academic recommenders) which includes information about the student, their connection with the person they are recommending, their qualification, and the specific skills they have.
- Statement of Purpose: This statement must describe your qualifications and the objectives of your intended educational program.
- Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
- Official Transcripts: Applicants who have attended and/or received degrees from institutions outside the US must provide certified copies and certified English translations of transcripts or records of all previous post-secondary education and of all degrees conferred.
- PhD dissertation proposal: A five-page proposal indicating students’ area of research interest and stating, as far as possible, their research question, research methods, and/or the research directions they wish to pursue.
- Research Writing: A sample of the applicant’s research writing, e.g. a completed segment of a master’s thesis or published article.
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
