They had a great music program and a wonderful learning environment. One of my friends went to the University of Windsor and they loved it. Everyone is super nice and everyone in my program is like family. The teachers actually care about you and your physical and mental health which is nice.
Course Curriculum :
I think it's great. I think it challenges the students but does not make you go crazy. I do think effective writing should be optional because it is not a very good course and it teaches students grammar skills that I learned in grade two.
Exams :
I took a written theory exam, an oral exam, and a playing exam to get in. I also have taken 1.5 years of exams so about 15 exams.
Placement :
The placements and job opportunities are based on what you specifically want to do with your career. Many music kids go into teaching and there are many placements and job opportunities for them. I want to go into film scoring and composing so that will be a little bit more difficult to find a placement for that but I'm sure I will find something.
Internship :
I am not sure of the experience because I am only in my second year so I have not had the opportunity to work in an internship. I am sure my University provides it I just have not researched it. I am sure if they do provide it then it is great.
Events :
We celebrate "Lancer Pride" which is a big celebration at the beginning of the year to celebrate being a Windsor Lancer. We have a relay for life. We celebrated international women's day. Our school is pretty active in events.
Fees :
The fee structure is pretty straight forward. OSAP pays tuition directly and you do not need to pay. It is pretty simple. If you have grants, loans, awards, or scholarships you can apply those to the tuition as well.
Scholarship :
Yes, I have had help from OSAP as well as some scholarships and awards. I have received some help from other government cheques and family. Also, I have a job that kind of helps a bit.
Examination Structure :
The exam structure is fine. None of my exams ever overlap. I have time between exams to study for each one. I never feel too stressed. The teachers are very good at working together to schedule around each other and set the exam schedule.
Faculty :
The faculty is amazing in my program. They are all very supportive. They always have time to sit down and chat with you about your grades, future, or anything else on your mind. They keep it professional while still building connections with the students.
