They had the best program for this major and it was very close by. They offered many options for placements including trips outside of Canada, placement in hospitals, community-based programs, schools, and mental health facilities.

Course Curriculum

9

It was very informative and had very up to date information, as well as Canadian information that was also very up to date. There was also a lot of interactive learning that helps us get ready for the real world.

Exams

I had to take an English placement test that placed you on the appropriate English level in your program.

Placement

8

The placements are structured well for your learning experience. I had a great time learning about the field and how to conduct myself, it is very rewarding when you're done your placements. I had a going away party in my placement and it was very emotional.

Internship

Internships are offered in many programs and it's a very good learning experience. It is great for building skills for after graduation and you receive lots of supervision. You are able to gain new references when you're done.

Events

8

There are a lot of social events at GBC. once to dance and drink, they have black history month celebrations, fundraisers, art performances, guest speakers, concerts and protests. All that is very socially conscious and appropriate with what is going on in today's world.

Fees

You receive an invoice for what you put down for a direct deposit when you begin school which is typical $500 and then you're asked for the 1st-semester fee after. you can pay yourself or receive OSAP. It is very expensive, at school you're charged for printing, any other training, and any police checks.

Scholarship

Receiving OSAP was sometimes stressful especially if you failed or had to drop a course. Signing up was pretty easy as well as getting someone to talk to about your financial aid.

Examination Structure

The exams are broken up into halves, the first half of what you have learned from the start of the semester to the middle is what you're tested on. Then your final exam in from what you've learned from the middle to the end of the semester. Some profs are nice enough to allow you to write your own cheat sheet or make it an open book.

Faculty

8

The faculty was very laid back, helpful and very easy to talk to. They are also very good references for I, you'd like to get a job in that particular field.

Hostel

6

The school had just built a new residency for students that is spacious, up to date and brand new. It is also hidden and off to the side and not too far from the 2 GBC sites. The school also offers students a site to go on if you're looking to rent space off campus that is close by.
