Maria Markelova Review at George Brown College [GBC], Toronto | Collegedunia

Objective recall.

MM
7.5 /10

It was close to my home which is important since I am living with my parents. It was also easily accessible through public transport which is important because I do not own a car or carpool with someone. Moreover, I already completed a previous program there and wish to stay on that campus.

Course Curriculum :

It is reasonably interesting. The first year is a bit of a heavy loaded in terms of the number of classes, the second year is also pretty heavy. Crucial classes are taught by professors most of whom know how to teach properly. Assignments are reasonable and fairly evaluated. The rubrics are detailed and easy to navigate.

Fees :

I did not like the fact that the fees for tuition were fixed even if you were taking fewer courses than meant to be (ie. due to transfer credits). Even if you took summer courses to decrease the course load in the next year, you still had to pay the same amount. Certain fees for other services (most of which I never even used) were not with an opt-out option, the only one we could opt-out was the student health plan.

Examination Structure :

The exams are fare and complex; if the person studies for it, they will be able to do good. The questions are reasonable and covered in classes making unpleasant surprises non-existent. The exam schedules are also alright, with enough breaks between the exams to give the students time to redirect themselves to the next subject.

Faculty :

Most of the professors know how to teach well and are enthusiastic about the content they are teaching. They are also easily available via emails and face to face appointments.
