I opted for this college because it offered a collaborative program that allowed me to attend school close to home and save money while still getting the same education I would have gotten if I had gone to University. I originally attended the college for a collaborative Kinesiology program but switched to the collaborative Nursing program and am very satisfied with my program switch.
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum is very relevant to today's current health topics and uses up to date resources and textbooks. Each class builds on previous year classes and allows for a deeper understating and application of knowledge and skill.
Exams
I originally didn't have my grade 12 biology and chemistry needed to be accepted because I was going to school for Kinesiology so I decided to take a half-year off to complete those instead of taking a pre-health course that was provided by the college for cost-effective reasons. The program was highly competitive to get into but I was accepted due to my marks and overall average.
Internship
Yes, Georgian College does have many student opportunities to work on campus. One job is working at the fitness centre. Students are responsible for cleaning, managing the front desk and attending the gym/athletic centre.
Fees
The tuition fee for my program was $4000 per semester. There was an opportunity to get a grant from the school which I applied for and got $400. There are many scholarships available for both international students and students who are not international. You have to complete an academic profile before you are eligible to apply for a scholarship.
Examination Structure
Exams are written with all students present for all lecture classes in one large lecture hall. The exams are cumulative and are usually worth 35% of the course.
Faculty
Most of the faculty had a nursing degree which was essential for teaching the core nursing classes. Some of the factually was very knowledgeable and had high levels of academic success. Each professor was well equipped and had the necessary knowledge and skills to teach their class.
