Jess Stephenson Review at Brock University, St. Catharines | Collegedunia

Brock to a first year

JS
7.8 /10

Brock was the closest to home but also was the best looking campus that I had seen and that instantly drew me in. I had done a few program tours and knew that I would have the best time at Brock. I also have friends from high school who are upper years in the same program, as well as my high school track coach who is an alumnus for the same program.

Course Curriculum :

Overall it is a good curriculum for the program since it is quite broad so it gets students ready for coaching and teaching, doing clinical research, athletic therapy, and rehabilitation or even becoming a chiropractor, physiotherapist or kinesiologist.

Fees :

Aside from tuition, our fees included health and dental insurance, as well as a bus pass for the year which all were optional. There was also a $1 day care fee, lab fees for my biology and human anatomy classes and for first years in residence without insurance there was a $40 charge each semester for coverage over our belongings.

Scholarship :

I had received an entry award and a bursary. For Brock, we have 'OneApp' which goes through different categories asking different questions and matches you to applicable scholarships, awards, and bursaries. This is available to all students and we are to update our application every August.

Examination Structure :

For my exam, they are spaced out to be able to have multiple days in between to have time to properly study and do well on each and every exam. I know people who one exam with another the next day but we are also given our schedule about a month into the semester which gives us more than enough to plan out how and when to study.

Faculty :

The faculty are very friendly and always there to help with any clarification needed, whether that?s something on an assignment or a grade not showing online.

Hostel :

I currently live in a traditional residence and the building and location of it on campus I love. The Residence Life Staff (RLS) make rounds every night to keep the noise down by students and ensure we're saved but they also pound on the bathroom door before opening it to check on whoever's in there but it can easily scare anyone and it can be hard to answer when brushing your teeth or washing your face. They also consistently engage in conversation with the students on my floor instead of telling them to quiet down and go back to their rooms when they're very loud and it is well past the start of quiet hours.
