To do MBA was my dream from a long time. I was looking for options in USA and Canada. Since I applied for Jan intake there aren't many options available in Canada as major intake will be fall and Canada has limited universities unlike US.I applied for Brock because it has good co-op program and option to complete general MBA. At that point of time I didn't want to choose any specialization and Brock has this option of completing general MBA.I got admits in US universities though but my main reason to choose Brock was because of its location in Canada. As MBA does not come under STEM in US the opt will be one year so I choose Canada to avoid any immigration issues in US.
Course Curriculum
The coursework in Brock is so hectic. We have to take 5 courses for semester and there is work at all time. I feel some of the courses are good and relevant but some are useless and waste of time. They are not teaching any latest technologies that will be actually useful when we move to job industry. The only good thing is the projects. They bring community partners as part of experiential education and we get to work with real world issues. Some projects are very relevant and helpful to apply what we learned in class and some are useless and I highly doubt whether the community partner will actually implement whatever suggestions we gave which is waste of time for us and for them. Overall it a mixture of good and bad things.
Exams
Our university has two type of MBA programs, MBA ISP and Regular MBA.I am enrolled in regular MBA program. For my program the requirement is to have IELTS minimum of 7.5 with no band less than 6.5 And GMAT above 550 or 60th percentile GRE Score. My scores : IELTS 7.5,GMAT 590.For some students there is an interview as well though I didn't had any. The other MBA ISP program in my university don't need any GMAT/GRE and IELTS Requirement is 6.5 for them.
Placement
Post study opportunities completely depends on our efforts. There are no such things as placements here. We have to apply everywhere on our own. Some networking events and career fairs happen. Some seniors got good jobs and some are still struggling to get one.
Internship
I have to do co-op next Semster looking for options right now
Events
After I joined Brock I went to campus for hardly 3 months and then COVID happened. Everything was moved to online. University has good recreational center, well versed library and free WiFi to all. There are many clubs on campus and some sort of events happen all time. There are some professional bodies for business programs.
Fees
fees will be around 70,000 Canadian dollars including all extra fees.
Scholarship
I received Dean of graduate studies entrance scholarship of 1000$.It was given based on my percentage in undergrad degree. I applied for other scholarships as well but didn't receive any. I wrote any essay stating why I would be needing a scholarship.
Faculty
Faculty student ratio varies from class to class. In some courses I have 40 students in a class and in some courses I have less than 10 students. Most of the faculty are approachable through email or they have designated office hours every week. I feel some faculty members are old and they keep forgetting things and don't explain things in a proper way.
Hostel
There are options on campus and off campus. On campus living is expensive and most of the students stay off campus. There are plenty of off Campus housing options available. The Average room rent in for single person in St.Catharines ranges from 450$-600$ including utilities. If going for sharing a room then cost will be less.
