I got into various Universities in UK and Canada but University of Waterloo has a co-op program, which really attracted me to their program.
Course Curriculum
Given the changing situation with Climate change, i would say the course is very much updated and relevant. Ours was a co-op program so we did our internships in the summer (online due to COVID-19). We also visited Mexico as part of our on the ground training right before the lockdowns were imposed. Most of my batch has published atleast 1 research paper. The University has provided lot of opportunities to support our research including supporting the fundings.
Exams
My score: IELTS 8 and required score IELTS 7.5 with no lower than 7 in any section.
Placement
Due to COVID 19 we dont have companies visiting for now but the university organizes online job fairs.
Events
The campus is huge and well equipped. There are various study rooms and libraries to work on assignments with Wifi accessibility around the campus. There are various sports teams and matches happening round the year. The sports complex also has a gym, martial arts studio, ice skating training etc. There are various acitivities happening almost everyday within different departments. There are lots to do in the University if you get the time to.
Scholarship
Yes, University of Waterloo Faculty of Environment Entrance Award. I was awarded the scholarship with my admission offer letter. I did not apply separately but the University does have other scholarship options too.
Faculty
The faculty and staff are really helpful. Most of the faculties are very approachable and help through the research and assignments. They are well versed with very research doubt that i might have and they always have various article and book recommendations. I have borrowed books a couple of times from many professors and they are very open to having discussions outside of class too.
Hostel
I live off campus because its cheaper. I found the accommodation through facebook group, which I think every University has. Its about a 10 mins walk from the University.
