I selected the University of Windsor in terms of specialty courses, cost of living and fee structure.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum was updated to the current trends and prepared you for the job market. The course also offered an internship at the end of the semester which was good in terms of canadian experience.
Exams
My scores: TOEFL 102/120. The University expected an Undergraduate GPA of at least 6.5. Also mentioning personal projects or projects you worked on in your job in your SOP will help you stand out from other applicants.
Placement
80% of the students secured an internship placement and the job market after I passed out was really good so I landed full time in a short span of time.
Internship
The process is similar to any other job search except that you specifically look for internship opportunities. The compulsion of the university is that the internship should be of either 4 or 8 months and it should be paid. I landed an internship at Tazwiz Inc which paid 14 CAD per hour. But the average internship pay can be 14 to 30 CAD per hour depending on your company.
Events
The campus life was greatly impacted due to Covid but as far as I have spent on campus, It was really great especially the library. The library was open 24/7 and really welcoming.
Fees
The total fee was 32 Lakhs in Indian rupees.
Scholarship
The course I enrolled it doesn't offer any scholarships.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio was 1:3. The faculty was really knowledgeable in their respective domains and were very approachable. Dr. Pooya was one of the faculty that left a positive impact on me. He guided us not only in the course structure but also gave us insight on how to be prepared for the Canadian job market.
Hostel
I started booking a room a week before I left India. The average room rate in Windsor will be 400 CAD for a single room and 330 CAD for a shared room.
