• Admission Deadline: The university accepts applications for three intakes- Fall, Winter, and Summer/Spring. The winter intake is open with a deadline of September 30. 
• Accommodation: MacEwan University provides flexible housing options with a stay as short as a term of 4 months or for a full year through their Residence Portal with a fee of 50 CAD.
• Living Expenses: Considering that a student lives in MacEwan residence in a Bachelor's apartment, his/her estimated living expenses would be 1.46 lakhs INR.

MacEwan University Campus

The City Centre campus is the major campus spread over seven blocks from 105 Street to 112 along 104 Avenue. In addition to residence halls, it has markets, theatres, gymnasium, ATM machine, SAMU (Students’ Association of MacEwan University), fitness center, Starbucks, etc. There was a South Campus till 2014, but later all programs were offered at one single campus to provide the same level of academic programming and services.

MacEwan University Accommodation

When students live in a residence, they don’t have to worry about furniture or a utility bill as they are included in the residence fees. It’s advised to apply as early as possible so that students can grab the suites they prefer. Guaranteed housing is available for returning residents, first year, and meritorious students. 

On-Campus Housing:

Students can apply for residence through their Resident Portal account with a non-refundable fee of 50 CAD. They can either apply for one term only or a full winter/fall term with a 12-month contract. 

Preference for floor type can also opt-

• Quiet floor: 8 pm- 8 am, seven days a week
• Regular floor: 10 pm- 8 am (Sunday to Thursday); 1 am-8 am (Friday and Saturday)

MacEwan University Programs and Faculties

MacEwan University offers 32 bachelor’s degree majors, 10 bachelor’s programs, 1 applied degree, 2 transfer degrees, as well as 40 certificate and diploma programs. MacEwan also offers Preparatory courses such as English as an Additional Language and Foundation Program International.

• For the English as an Additional Language (EAL) program, students must have a minimum IELTS score of 4.0 or a Duolingo score of 5. This course prepares students for university studies and students can apply here.
• Foundation Program International combines EAL with university-level courses. Students can apply using ApplyAlberta. The minimum requirements include an IELTS score of 5.5 or a Duolingo score of 85 or equivalent.

MacEwan University Application Process

MacEwan University suggests applying as early as possible because admission turns competitive where the number of applications exceeds the number of seats. Unless otherwise mentioned, international students must apply before May 1 for Fall or September 30 for Winter intake. Applicants must have a minimum of 30post-secondary credits with an English course.

• Application Portal: Online applications are accepted through ApplyAlberta both for Canadian as well as out-of-province international students. 
• Application Fee: 110 CAD (non-refundable) paid via Amex, MasterCard, or Visa
• Application Deadlines: It’s advised to apply as early as possible to improve the chances of admission. All university programs are open for Fall intake. Additional intakes occur in Winter, and summer/ spring terms.

Admission Requirements: Login to MyMacEwan Portal to upload all the educational documents and certified translations (August 1- Fall intakes; December 1- Winter intakes). The deadline to submit the documents is by August 1.

• Minimum AGPA of 2.5/4.0 (Admission Grade Point Average)

Students completely bilingual and fluent in English, should submit a written petition to the Office of the University Registrar requesting an exemption for ELP scores. The evidence must include a student’s background, educational & personal experience in English, and language of instruction at home as well as a language of instruction in education.

MacEwan University offers financial assistance to international students in the form of scholarships, awards, and bursaries. The scholarships are accessible to both new and returning international students of a four-degree program.

• Entrance Scholarships are available to newly admitted students on account of previous academic achievement. Chancellor’s Scholarship series is awarded to students pursuing a degree program. The scholarships are as follows:
• Chancellor’s Scholarship- AGPA higher than 3.99 or 95-100%
• President’s Scholarship- AGPA of 3.9-3.99 or 90-94.99%
• Provost Scholarship- AGPA of 3.7-3.89 or 85-89.99%
