  • Bachelor’s in Animation at Sheridan College is offered as a 4-year teaching program.
  • This bachelor program has a co-op work option.
  • In order to be eligible to participate in a full-time Co-op Work Term, students must meet the GPA requirements.
  • The student-to-faculty ratio is 16:1 which bridges the gap between faculty and students.
  • Some of the main courses that students will study in this program are:
    • Introduction to Painting
    • Animation Principles
    • Character Design
    • Introduction to Digital Tools
    • Composition and Rhetoric
  • In the Animation degree program, students will learn from industry professionals, using the same techniques and tools that they will eventually need in the workplace.
  • Using state-of-the-art software and hardware, students will create their own stories, designs, characters, and layouts, and produce their films.
  • The Animation program at Sheridan College emphasizes classical principles of animation in various forms, such as 2D digital, 3D, and stop motion. Students will develop their storyboarding skills and improve their life drawing, layout, and digital painting skills. By working collaboratively or individually on productions, they will have the opportunity to explore all aspects of animation filmmaking.
  • After Year 3, you’ll gain professional experience during a three-month work placement. And at our annual Industry Day, employers will fly in from across North America to meet you, see your work and conduct interviews.
  • Students come from all over the world to study animation at Sheridan. That’s because the Animation program has such a strong reputation. Michael Hirsh, co-founder of Nelvana, refers to Sheridan as the “Harvard of Animation.”
  •  Graduates go on to work in television and feature animation at major studios throughout North America.
  •  Program contains a mandatory internship for all students during the summer (May–August) between the 3rd and 4th year.
  • The Internship component is delivered by Sheridan's Co-operative Education Office, which facilitates over 1,800 Co-op/Internship work terms per year Sheridan-wide.
  • Employers regard our animators as the cream of the crop; Sheridan graduates routinely go straight to work for top-flight studios and firms in feature films, television animation, gaming and advertising.
