As a student in this program, the student acquires knowledge and skills specific to electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science, including:
- engineering principles, professionalism, and methodologies
- fundamentals of mathematics, technical writing, dynamics, electronics, computer programming, optical systems and materials science
- machine design, control systems, electromechanical actuators, sensors, vision systems and the software necessary to design and simulate autonomous and remotely operated systems and components
- project planning and management, and research and leadership skills
- This co-operative education program provides learning opportunities through industrial or applied research placements.
- In this program, If a student is interested in the potential of self-employment, the student has an opportunity to foster entrepreneurial aspirations.
- Algonquin College intends to pursue accreditation of this program with the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board of Engineers Canada.
- Students may be expected to travel outside of their immediate area of residency for a Co-op placement and It is the student’s responsibility to arrange transportation and incur all costs associated with a Co-op placement.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- A minimum of six (6) university (U - University) or college (M - University/College) Grade 12 courses including four (4) required university (U) level courses and two additional U or M level courses.
- A grade of 65% in the required courses and an overall average of 65% in the six Grade 12U, or M courses.
- Applicants must have completed at least one OAC or (U - University) Mathematics, Science, and English Course.
- The following Grade 12 courses, or equivalent, are required:
- One Grade 12 U English course.
- One Grade 12 U Physics course.
- One Grade 12 U Calculus course.
- One Grade 12 U Math course.
- Two Grade 12 U or M courses.
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL to get admission in this program.
Additional Requirements:
- Students are required to submit documentation of an entry immunization record, police records check including vulnerable sector, and Level C CPR.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- The student has graduated from senior secondary school or equivalent (those applying for a postgraduate program must have graduated from a university or college).
- Minimum four major subjects in 12th Grade, including English with an average of 70% and no course less than 65%.
Others:
- Mature student applicants who have not achieved the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or it's equivalent and who are at least 19 years of age on or before the graduation of the program in which they intend to enroll.
- Mature students should have demonstrated academic abilities equivalent to those of Ontario high school graduates, verified by successful completion of courses at the postsecondary level.
- Applicants with diplomas or courses from post-secondary institutions recognized by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities.

- Transcript: Students must submit the official marks statements or transcripts that are provided by the college.
- Test Results: Provide proof of English proficiency, if English is not the first language in student country, as proof of IELTS/TOEFL result scores is to be submitted.
- Certificates: One of the following certificates with a minimum grade of 65 or above in required program subjects:
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
- The Senior School Certificate
- The Pre-University Examination Certificate
- The Intermediate Examination Certificate
