Having admission from top universities like TUM, NUS, UniMelb. I had great confusion, then went in for Melbourne to have a Outside Asia experience and in a Commonwealth country.
Course Curriculum
Overall i liked to design of the curricula but was not upto my expectations. I felt specialisation in structural discipline is not properly designed as even the core subjects have been pushed to as core electives. We have a year capstone project during final 2 semesters
Exams
I satisfied the English requirement with my background of completing my UG in English medium
Placement
Basically in Australia, there is no culture of Placements in University. Some convert the internships into fulltime roles. Generally for international students, finding the first job is a challenge
Internship
Non-Paid internship in iBuild building Solutions, Melbourne, Vic, applied externally, But waste of an Internship
Fees
~AU$90,000 for 2 years, 16 courses comprising to a total of 200 credits. i.e. ~$5,700/ one 12 credit course
Scholarship
Melbourne School of Engineering Scholarship, AU$5,000/year, Automatically considered during Application
Faculty
Most of the faculty are kind and down to earth. They have good experience and colloboration with Industry. They are application oriented rather research oriented
Campus Life
UniMelb has vast campus with a vibrant student culture, there are more than 200+ student clubs, That means you can find anything to suit your needs. Good sports and network facilties, recently they have upgraded the libraries which are cool to experience. But in Civil engg. dept., Structural lab is missing, which was quite worrying to do extensive research
Hostel
Melbourne is a Student city. So there are plenty of option that will suit anyone based on their preferences
